“Musical excellence is rewarding, exciting and what we ultimately aim to achieve, but we also value the process. The friendships that have been built, the skills we learn from one another week after week, the joy, the tears and the laughter... it is because of all these experiences that we excel.”
Lady Cove is excited to announce the 2018-2019 Concert Season!

Special Guest Hosts: French Canadian choral conductors, Robert Fillion & Nadine Hébert
La vie est belle – life is beautiful. And what better way to celebrate that than with music! For the first time, to kick-off our 16th season, Lady Cove delves into the remarkable library of French Canadian and Acadian repertoire. Steeped in tradition and infused with stories of life and love, loss and laughter, we are excited to explore the human experience in a slightly new way. For our non-French speaking friends, not to worry – our two special guest hosts, acclaimed French Canadian choral conductors, Robert Fillion and Nadine Hébert, will be on hand to help us all navigate these wonderful stories, ensuring a rich and engaging experience (no French-English dictionary required!)

Flurries of White

Cochrane Street United Church
Featuring: Lori Gemmel, harp, and Nathan Cook, cello
This season, our Christmas gift to you is pairing two of the most beloved Christmas suites for treble voices – the iconic Ceremony of Carols, by Benjamin Britten, and the modern favourite Snow Angel, by Canadian composer, Sarah Quartel. Britten’s work, written primarily in Middle English and Latin, hearkens another time. In stark contrast, Quartel’s work boasts a youthful and hopeful energy. Together, we will explore the varied traditions, emotions, and colours the Christmas season has to offer. And, if that wasn’t enough, Lady Cove has decided to make its own contribution to the Christmas catalogue by commissioning a brand new Christmas suite for women’s voices by our very own Leslee Heys, Radiance in Winter. We won’t give too much away, but this exciting new song cycle explores the common and sometimes contradictory themes that winter brings forth: darkness and light, wonderment and introspection, joy and peace. We look forward to kicking-off the Christmas season with you!
